Because Editing Videos is Not For Me...
On occasion, I find myself hyper-fixated on a specific facet of fighting games.
Sometimes it's simply the state of the genre itself or the health of the community. Other times, it's more specific topics on learning and gameplay itself. And rather than get those thoughts out of my head and onto a page, I simply ramble to myself like a madman. The modern solution to this seems to be to make a video essay, or something similar; however, I find myself not particularly suited to the recording and editing parts of that work.
Instead I find myself thinking about old FGC essential reading, the kind of things I was consuming way back in 2013 when I stumbled into the genre. Seth Killian's "Domination 101" series on the old SRK forums (thankfully archived over on supercombo.gg, everyone say "thank you Shib",) the Footsies Handbook, things of that nature. As great as video essays and guides are, I'm not sure anything beats written text you can come back to and digest over and over again easily.
So in that spirit, and from a belief that I need to put thoughts on paper instead of letting them rattle around in my head on a loop, I'm going to occasionally write on here. I don't expect this to be iconic or influential like the works I've referenced, but maybe someone will find this helpful. Let's see how this goes.
